Let Us Be Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope you take some time today to enjoy quality time with family and delicious food while also devoting some reflection to all for which in our lives there is to be grateful.

Norris Thanksgiving

This year, I’m thankful for:

Ryan

I struggle to even articulate everything that Ryan does for me. He supports me, he encourages me to take risks and grow, he’s my fellow adventurer, my best friend, and the love of my life.

Charlie

I’m so grateful for his sweet puggle snuggles, compassionate heart, and adorable goofiness. He’s my little furry baby.

My family

My parents have done so much for Ryan and I, especially in 2015 when we moved halfway across the country. I can’t thank them enough.

Running

Call me a sap: I am often struck with immense gratitude that I have two legs, no physical disabilities, and can run in a safe place. Call it a privilege, call it a blessing; whatever you call it, I never take it for granted.

The mountains

A weekly retreat from the stress of life and depressing state of the world into the raw and pure beauty of the natural world.

My parish

It took us a few tries to finally find a church that felt like home of us, and we finally joined one this past weekend. I’m so grateful to be part of a vibrant faith community, where the pews are full every week and the sermons inspire me.

My readers

Yes, all of you! I’m so incredibly grateful for the fact that you read, comment, and share my blog posts. Thank you so much!

I wish you all a most blessed and happy Thanksgiving.

What are you thankful for this year?

  1. I”m thankful for all the miles I ran this year; for the speed that these old legs still bring to the road; for my coach who pushes me and makes me push my limits; for my blog which has brought wonderful other runners/bloggers into my life…

    Happy Thanksgiving, Laura!

  2. Happy Thanksgiving, Laura! I love that you used this space to share some of the things that you’re thankful for, especially that things that most people take for granted (like the ability to run!) This year, I’m especially thankful that I had the means to go to graduate school. I know that the high cost of graduate school prevents many deserving people from going, so even when things get tough, I’m trying to remember that!
